Human Gross Anatomy
MS Year 1 Curriculum Our Year 1 curricular structure includes 35 weeks of instruction and five weeks of assessment. The five blocks for Year 1 include cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, gastrointestinal, endocrine, reproductive, musculoskeletal, integumentary, human behavior and the nervous system. Gross Anatomy is the exploration of the gross morphology and three-dimensional organization of the body and how it relates to normal function. This course emphasizes developing gross anatomical knowledge as a basis for clinical practice. Respect and reverence for body donors is foremost in the learning process. |
Obstetrics and Gynecology
OBGYN 205C/206C Cadaveric advanced anatomy course for individuals rotating through the Obstetrics and Gynecology department. Topics covered include: normal female pelvic anatomy and changes with pregnancy and parturition with emphasis on the 3D relationships of structures. Oncoanatomy Cadaveric advanced anatomy course for individuals rotating through or working in the Radiation Oncology department. This class meets once every other month to discuss a clinical case and the normal anatomy associated with the cancer, its potential paths of spread and associated radiation treatment planning. Ophthalmology Cadaveric advanced anatomy as part of an elective course for second year medical students. Rotation in the anatomy lab includes hands-on eye dissection and orbital prosection reviews. |

ANTH 339 This course provides an introduction to the living nonhuman primates at La Selva Biological Field Station and training in behavioral data collection field techniques. We will also discuss primate and rainforest conservation in light of ecotourism issues and development in Costa Rica. Ecological Research & Conservation in the Tropics ANTH 339 This course provides an introduction to the habitats of the three New World primates you will be studying (howler, spider and capuchin monkeys). Topics include plant-pollinator and plant-herbivore interactions, rainforest nutrient cycles, deforestation and fragmentation effects, interspecific competition and general ecological field methods. |
